What the rule requires
Under Colorado Rule of Civil Procedure 16.2(e)(2), the parties exchange mandatory financial disclosures within 42 days after service of a petition, including a completed sworn financial statement and supporting documents. Source: Colorado Supreme Court Rule Change 2024(03).
Why accuracy matters
The sworn financial statement is signed under oath. It drives child support, maintenance and property division. Mistakes, guesses and omissions undermine your credibility and can be costly to fix.
Where people go wrong
Common problems include using take-home pay instead of gross income, leaving out bonuses or side income, forgetting accounts, and guessing at monthly expenses. Attorney Liken's years as a government fraud investigator mean he also knows how to spot what the other side's statement leaves out.
